CQU Faculty of Built Environment holds Development Meeting and Donation Ceremony
On October 18, 2021, as the 4th Editorial Work Meeting of Development and Changes of Architectural Colleges and Universities Directly under the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development was in process, the Faculty of Built Environment of Chongqing University held its Development Meeting and Donation Ceremony of China Construction Publishing Media at the School of Management Science and Real Estate.
As one of the oldest architectural colleges and universities, Chongqing University was once a national key university directly under the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, with which it is closely associated. The Development Update Meeting was held to report to Qi Ji, former vice minister of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and president of China Construction Industry Association, and his companions the latest development of various schools of the Faculty of Architecture, and discuss and exchange ideas on future development of the building industry. After that, as witnessed by Qi Ji and honored guests present, China Architecture Publishing & Media Co., Ltd. donated books worth 1 million yuan to Chongqing University.
Liu Hanlong, managing vice president of Chongqing University, appeared at the event and addressed the attendants. According to Liu, with the guide and substantial support of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, China Construction Industry Association, and China Association of Construction Education, Chongqing University has come a long way in areas including construction talent training, team building, scientific research, social services and international exchanges. The development history of Chongqing University is reflected in details in the Development and Changes of Architectural Colleges and Universities Directly under the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. It is the witness of the development and achievement of Chongqing University, and is also a start of a new journey. The books worth 1 million yuan donated by China Architecture Publishing & Media to Chongqing University will play a significant role in promoting the construction of architectural disciplines, and spreading and inheritance of architectural culture. Chongqing University will stick to its initial mission and keep going. It will make active efforts in teaching reform and textbook construction while implementing the "14th Five-year Plan"; focus on urban construction and rural revitalization, associate development of the University closely with regional and industrial development, and build a bridge to facilitate win-win development with all sectors of the society, in an ultimate effort to improve innovative capacities and spur high-quality development of education with effective and practical actions. Liu expressed his hope that Minister Qi and his companions would offer precise guide and care to the construction and development of Chongqing University.
Yan Wei, secretary of the CPC Committee of the School of Management Science and Real Estate, presided at the Meeting. Yang Qingshan, dean of the School of Civil Engineering, He Qiang, dean of the School of Environment and Ecology, Xie Hui, vice dean of the School of Architecture and Urban Planning, and Liu Guiwen, dean of the School of Management Science and Real Estate gave updates on their planning, practice and thoughts on talent training, characteristic research, and serving the resgion and society.
Qi Ji said that he gained a deep and comprehensive understanding of the development and achievements of the Faculty of Architecture of Chongqing University. Chongqing University has been training a great number of pillars of society and industrial elites for the country, and has made enormous contribution since its founding. When talking of the development of the building industry, Qi said that as a traditional industry, the building industry played a supporting role in the entire process of reform, opening-up and economic development, and was driving the development of cities and improvement of environment. President Xi Jinping has said that the people’s desire for a better life is the goal we strive to realize. The goal of the building industry in the new era is to provide high-quality construction products. On the scientific and technological level, the goal is to make breakthroughs in scientific and technological theory, attain high-tech high-quality achievements, and cultivate innovation-oriented talents adapted to high-quality development; on the industrial reform level, the focus of development and the talent cultivation goal in the next stage will be green construction and intelligent construction, and the ultimate goal is to facilitate the shift of the building industry from a labour concentrated industry to a technology-intensive one. As for industrial upgrading, efforts should be concentrated on building industrialization to expedite industrial transformation. The unremitting efforts of China Association of Construction Education and chivalrous deed of China Architecture Publishing & Media Co., Ltd. are for the same goal, which is the high-quality development.
