Chongqing University and University of Western Sydney (Australia) :Strenthening Understanding, Deepening Cooperation

From January 11th to 13th, 2018, the delegation of University of Western Sydney came to Chongqing University and participated in visiting activity. The delegation members included Professor Kerry London, Deputy Dean of School of Computing, Engineering and Math, Professor Vivian Wing-Yan Tam, Principal of International Office and other staffs.
In 11th morning, Liu Han-Long, Vice President of Chongqing University, held a conference. Professor Liu Gui-Wen， Dean of School of Construction Management and Real Estate, and Professor Ye Kun-Hui, Deputy Dean of School and other staffs attended the conference as representatives of Chongqing University.
When mentioned about the academic communication with universities of Australia, ” Chongqing University keep closely academic contact with many Australian universities and there are also many Chinese scholars working on teaching and research activities at Australia. ” Mr. Lau said, ”So we do expect that the two universities (Chongqing University and university of Western Sydney ) make more efforts together to develop deep and various cooperative projects, including students communications, teacher exchanging and academic research activities. ”

Professor Kerry London expressed her appreciation to the warm hospitality of CQU for their visiting. She said that the two universities are similar to the subjects settings and already established benign synergic basement on the construction management field, which would positively intensify universities’ cooperation on joint training of master and doctor students, exchanging study and communication among teachers and students, academic researching and so forth.
Before the conference, Professor Tam had visited Mr. Xu Jun, Principal of Office of International Affairs in Chongqing University, Ms. Ye Lei, Vice Principal of Office and Mr. Gau Xiang, Chief of Communicating Section. They had discussed about cooperative fields that they were interested in. After this activity, they planned to sign memorandum of cooperation.
Professor Liu Gui-Wen made a statement in the conference. he thought University of Western Sydney plays an important role on Engineering Management field in Australia. ”This is their distinct subject. ” he said. After their discussion, the two schools decided to exploit the advantage of each and explore better cooperative modes, which were built on the past achievement of academic cooperation. Universities and Faculties offered supports to the decision and expected practical achievement through mutual interaction.
Mr. Liu Han-Long said, Chongqing University would make every effort to accomplish the memorandum of cooperation. And he also mentioned that, Chongqing University is gong to organize the delegation to universities in Australia this year. He looked forward to visiting University of Western Sydney at that time and improving the two universities’ friendly relationship.

After the conference, visitors had an extensive discussion meeting with staffs of School of Construction Management and Real Estate. The Dean of school, Liu Gui-Wen, Vice Dean of school, Yang Yu and Ye Kun-Hui and Assistant of the Dean, Xiang Peng-Cheng were attendees. The two parties were on detailed negotiation about joint training of master and doctor students, exchanging study among teachers, academic researching (Joint establishment of laboratory etc.) and so forth.

In the end, both parties agreed that this is a sucessful activity. Two universities have enhanced understanding to each other and specified their cooperation in their interested fields. These actions will turn into solid foundation that would help them promote in-depth communication and cooperation.
